Our management process for Select Portfolios is disciplined, unbiased, and built on the fundamental principles that have proven successful with long-term investing. Our team of top-tier managers meets and exceeds the following criteria:
- Superior performance in down markets. While anyone can ride the wave in a bull market, the best managers are those that have demonstrated solid results across business cycles. All of our managers deliver above-average results during bear markets.
- Superior performance in up markets. Our managers rank in the top two deciles of their respective categories over three- and five-year periods.
- Lower than average expenses. Research has shown that funds with low expenses typically produce superior results. Moreover, lower expenses most often correlate with lower turnover and more favorable tax treatment. Our portfolios’ expense ratios are consistently below the average expense ratio reported by Morningstar.
- Manager tenure. Manager tenure is a key indicator of long-term performance. Our fund managers average over eight years in their respective positions.
