What is Trusteer Rapport

Trusteer Rapport is an online fraud protection software product that helps to protect your online banking information. It is an additional layer of security to any anti-virus or security software you may already use. It initiates a safe connection between your web browser and Columbia Bank online banking website, helps to block malicious attempts to steal your data and funds.

Why Use Trusteer Rapport

The top two fraud threats identified by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) are malware and phishing attacks. Corporate bank accounts are increasingly under attack by fraudsters and one of the biggest risks is the computer used to perform online banking transactions. Following is a brief description of these threats:

• Malicious software (or malware) - automatically downloaded onto your computer when you browse the Internet, malware captures your login information and transfers it to criminals as you login to the Bank's website. It is also capable of changing the transactions you execute as directed by criminals.
• Phishing - criminals build fake websites that look very similar to the Bank's website. They do this to lure you into visiting these fake websites and submitting your online banking login information. This data is later used to access your online bank account.

How Does Trusteer Rapport Work

When you connect to Columbia Bank's online banking, Trusteer works in the background to make it difficult for criminals to target you by:

• Verifying that you are connected to Columbia Bank's online banking website rather than a fraudulent website
• Once verification is complete, Trusteer locks down communication between your computer and the bank's online banking website helping to prevent criminals from using malware to steal your login data and tamper with transactions
